Star Wars Day at Walt Disney World: May the Fourth be with You
By Kate Cohen
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
Every spring, there comes a special day when Star Wars fans can joyously celebrate a remarkable intergalactic world of adventure.
May 4th has been declared National Star Wars Day, giving fans and superfans everywhere the chance to showcase their passion for porgs, droids, and maybe even the Dark Side.
There’s no better way to observe National Star Wars Day than to spend it at Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios theme park.

This epically immersive world transports guests to the planet of Batuu on the outskirts of the galaxy.
Here, you’ll find yourself mingling amongst smugglers, ruffians, and suspicious characters from all walks of life.
Still, even the bravest travelers won’t be able to shake the feeling of tension in the air as stormtroopers and characters loyal to the First Order roam the streets with watchful eyes.
Whether you’re visiting on May 4 or any other day of the year, here are our suggestions for enjoying all things Star Wars at Walt Disney World.
Join the Revolution with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Since opening in 2019, one of the biggest draws of Galaxy’s Edge has been Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
This enormous one-of-a-kind thrill ride finds riders captured by a First Order Star Destroyer swarming with stormtroopers.
Luckily, a group of covert Resistance fighters, including Rey and BB-8, are nearby to help you escape – but not before you encounter Kylo Ren.
This breathtaking immersive experience is impeccably detailed and has a queue that’s just as impressive as the ride itself.
Fly the Millennium Falcon

The Millennium Falcon, famously flown by Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca, is one of the most recognizable spacecrafts in the world.
Now guests at Galaxy’s Edge have the opportunity to sit in the cockpit and fly the iconic spaceship themselves on the amazing ride, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
This ride requires a six-person crew. Each person in the cockpit will be assigned a role, be it pilot, gunner, or flight engineer.
You and your crew will need to work together to steer the Millennium Falcon while you set out on a secret mission for Space Pirate Hondo Ohnaka.
The ride uses real-time video technology that responds to the controls you’re using in the cockpit.
Every mission is different, meaning the outcome of your smuggling assignment is completely in your hands.
Build your own Lightsaber

Anyone who’s ever dreamed of becoming a Jedi has imagined themselves wielding the power of a lightsaber.
Now, you can customize your own at Savi’s Workshop in Galaxy’s Edge.
You’ll find the shop hidden away in Black Spire Outpost, tucked away from the eyes of the First Order.
Bring your own lightsaber to life with the power of kyber crystals, available in red, green, blue, or violet.
Assemble your hilt, attach it to a blade, and you’ll have an incredible beacon of the Star Wars universe unique to you.
This one-of-a-kind opportunity is an additional charge of $249.99 per lightsaber, plus tax.
Curate a Droid Companion
Yearning for a loveable, loyal sidekick?
Craft a custom droid at the Droid Depot.
Visit the workshop to assemble your own droid out of a variety of mismatched parts.
Once you’ve built your new buddy, you’ll activate it and pair it with a remote control to watch it come to life.
This unique experience is also an additional cost at $119.99 per droid unit, plus tax.
Interact with your Favorite Characters

At any given point, you may find some recognizable faces wandering through Galaxy’s Edge.
Characters like Chewbacca, Rey, the Mandalorian and Grogu, and even the menacing Kylo Ren have been known to make appearances throughout the day.
These roaming meet-and-greets keep you on your toes (though you can check the Walt Disney World app for an idea of when and where you might encounter characters).
If you prefer a more standard meet and greet experience, head to Star Wars Launch Bay, which is a separate area from Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios.
Here, you can have one-on-one interactions with characters like Darth Vader, BB-8, and Chewbacca.
Enjoy Intergalactic Cuisine
When you’re ready for a pit stop, there are plenty of places for a refreshing drink and a bite to eat.
Oga’s Cantina transports you into a classic Star Wars movie.
This local watering hole is a go-to for bounty hunters, smugglers, traders, and travelers from every corner of the galaxy.
The charismatic bar serves fantastical drinks – with and without alcohol.
Guests of all ages can enjoy the popular Blue Bantha, the famous Blue Milk served with a bantha-inspired vanilla butter sugar cookie on top.
Other drinks incorporate playful ingredients like flavored popping pearls, lavender, hibiscus, and more.
While Oga’s Cantina serves limited snack items, guests with a more powerful appetite will want to head to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.
Here you’ll find galactic menu items like Batuuan Beef and Crispy Topato, smoky beef served in a flavorful tamarind sauce with harvest vegetables.
The Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip may sound unfamiliar, but you’ll recognize it as crispy chicken served with macaroni and cheese.
These and other exotic-sounding dishes will help you fuel up for your next adventure.
